Joana Cortey was the widow of the well known Barcelona bookseller and printer Jaume Cortey, and the daughter of the carpenter Miquel Ferrer, deceased, and Eularia, living. Her will was drawn up in August 1580, and her executors included: her mother; the donzell mossen Antich Ribot de Palmerola, the merchant mossen Francesch Hieronym Benet; and her brother mossen Pau Ferrer, botiguer de telas. The will has few details: she wished to be buried in the Franciscan monastery and in the Franciscan habit, and the amount was to be decided by the executors. She had three daughters.
