The 'venerable' Petrus Vila Salo was a presbyter (beneficed) of Sta. Maria del Mar. He possessed "En vn retret de vn studi que sta prop de la entrada que trau finestra [...]", a good number of cultural objects such as paintings, retables, and a very large library containing works of Ovid, Nebrija, Aquinas, Martial, Ambrose, Saint Bonaventure, Agustine, Virgil, Petrarch, Horace, Pliny, Tullius, Boethius ('De consolatione'), Alexandre, Erasmus, and titles as 'summa angelica', books of 'diverses tractats', 'Gramatici blasii', 'cronica del cavallero Trell [?]', a remarkable 'altre libre cancionero general' and other books of classical and religious matters. In the study he had also "Item dos violas rahonables", "Item vn monacort pintat de sobre lo cobert de vert rahonable" and "Item altre monacort tot lis".
A mention of a "viola petita" appears in the auction (dated on firday 13 of March, 1547) as selled to Joan Ponces for 5 sous and 6 diners.
